Type Locality and Naming

By the Modun River, Southwest Gissar. M.R. Jalilov, 1968 (190, p. 43). Stratotype in the Modun River valley in the Akbrat depression.

Synonym: Modun Suite, Модунская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Gray and greenish-gray clays with layers of shell limestones containing numerous Liostrea rouvillei Coq. Thickness 40-75m.


Lithology Pattern: 
Shallow-marine marl


Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies conformably on the Muzrabrat Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Akrabat Fm.

Regional extent

Southwest Gissar, Babatag range. It corresponds to the Pachkamar Fm and lower part of the Akrabrat Fm. X.X. Mirkamalova. (51; 56; 189; 300; 452).
